Haven Training Grounds
Practice barding, animal handling, care skills and magical resistance using K9UO's designated safe trainers. These systems are intended to make meaningful training possible without turning normal wilderness combat into a shortcut.
How to train
Provocation
Use an instrument to provoke one Training Beetle against a different Training Beetle.
- Find two separate beetles inside the Haven pens.
- Use the two-target skill sequence: beetle 1, then beetle 2.
- Repeated use should never injure or move the permanent trainers.
Peacemaking
Choose a Training Beetle as your target when using Peacemaking with an instrument.
- Keep your instrument available and your target in range.
- Use the designated trainers, not nearby players.
- Actual skill gains depend on your skill cap and skill-lock setting.
Discordance
Practice the musical disruption skill on Haven's permanent Training Beetles.
- Target a beetle with Discordance.
- The special trainer path is repeatable; it does not keep a permanent debuff on the beetle.
- Normal Discordance outside the pens retains its usual rules.
Animal Taming
Practice taming without actually collecting or removing the Haven Training Beetles.
- Target a designated Training Beetle with Animal Taming.
- The trainer cannot be taken away as a pet.
- Normal wilderness animals follow the standard taming mechanics.
Veterinary & Healing
The Training Beetles are configured for ongoing safe treatment practice.
- Carry bandages and select your healing skill where applicable.
- The beetles are harmless and effectively unkillable.
- Current designated training health: approximately 90 of 115.
Resisting Spells
Look for the caged Resist Training Imp near the Haven trainers.
- The imp produces harmless training spell effects.
- It is designed to skip characters whose Resist skill is locked or already capped.
- It should service multiple eligible nearby players without harming them.
Training progress and balance
These special trainers are for practice. Your skill lock must be set to Up, and no trainer can push a skill past its own cap. Some skills also require Musicianship or an appropriate instrument. If a skill appears stuck, check the lock, cap and current training target before filing a report.
Report a beta issue
When reporting a problem, include the skill name, its start and end values, the approximate training duration, the trainer used, and any message displayed. For Provocation, note whether the first and second beetles were both detected. Include a screenshot when possible.
